National Reconciliation Week

Over the past week at SOTS we have been recognising National Reconciliation Week (NRW). This has been an opportunity for our students to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We strive towards a more just, equitable nation by championing unity and mutual respect as we come together and connect with one another.

For National Reconciliation Week at SOTS we acknowledged and displayed our respect through the following actions:

  • Daily Prayer with the focus on Reconciliation
  • Whole school Art Project based on the theme for 2020; “In this Together”. Please see the image below.
  • Year Six Prayer Liturgy shared with students, families and the community.
