Prep Excursion to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

On Wednesday, our Prep students went on an excursion to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. This excursion linked in with their Science Unit about living things and their needs. They enjoyed watching the Raptor Flight and Sheep Dog shows, whilst learning all about birds and how they train working dogs. They visited the on-site surgery and watched zookeepers prepare food for the animals.

There were lots of lizards sunning themselves on the ground as they walked around the zoo – just like our 4 friendly frill-necked lizards that live at the adventure playground. And there was a cheeky platypus putting on a show for the students by quickly darting and swimming around the enclosure. The highlight of the day was feeding the kangaroos. It was a great day and the students really enjoyed learning more about living things.
