Online Resources to Support Reading

PM eBooks for Students in Prep – Year 3

Early last term, the school purchased a PM eBook subscription for all students in Prep to Year 3. Passwords were sent home and our students have been using this program in class to support their daily reading. This has been a great resource to allow families to access readers appropriate to their child’s reading ability.

The PM eBooks include purpose-built features to enhance students' experience. These include:

  • audio support - students tap to hear a word or swipe down to hear a page
  • My Words - students touch and swipe a word to add it to their My Words list. They can then access that list to practice words they found difficult
  • ability for students to record their own reading of the PM eBook
  • edit text function
  • draw and add notes to PM eBooks

We have received many wonderful comments from families about this resource and we thank you all for helping us support the children with their reading. If your child has lost their password for this program, please email your child’s teacher.

Storybox Online for Students in Prep – Year 6

Our school has purchased a yearly subscription to Story Box Library online. Story Box Library is a subscription based educational website, created for Australian children to view stories by Australian authors and illustrators, being read aloud by fantastic storytellers.

It is a fantastic literary resource for pre-school through to upper primary-aged children, that showcases a range of actors, sportspeople, authors, illustrators sharing their unique voices in an ever-growing online library.

As part of our subscription, our students are able to access this website at home to listen to stories on a device. Please refer to our newsletter of 3rd September for login information.

Sora for Students in Year 4 – Year 6

BCE have purchased a subscription to Sora for students to access on their one-to-one school devices. The Sora app was designed around the modern student reading experience. It empowers students to discover and enjoy ebooks and audiobooks, for both leisure and class-assigned reading.

Our students in Years 4-6 can access Sora on their iPad at school and at home.
