Year 5 & 6 Excursion

Published 22 Oct 2026

On Tuesday, our Year 5 and Year 6 students enjoyed an exciting excursion into the city, exploring two significant sites that brought their learning to life.

Our first stop was Parliament House, where students toured the impressive buildings and learnt about the democratic processes that help shape our state. They visited the iconic Red Chamber (Upper House) and Green Chamber (Lower House), explored the historic library with books and records dating back more than 200 years, and took part in a mock parliament session. The stunning architecture, including ornate gold-leaf ceilings and magnificent crystal chandeliers, left everyone in awe.

The group then visited the Brisbane Synagogue, where students explored Jewish beliefs, traditions and celebrations. They had the opportunity to learn about special religious objects and gain a deeper understanding of Judaism and the rich customs and practices of the Jewish community.

This was a valuable and memorable learning experience, helping students broaden their understanding of different faiths, cultures and civic institutions while making meaningful connections to their classroom learning.
